On the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park, and 20 miles north of York, Shallowdale House
was built at the beginning of the 1960's on a sheltered south-facing hillside overlooking an exquisite landscape of unspoilt English countryside, which has been designated an area of outstanding natural beauty.
We have been fortunate enough to live here since 1998, and we extend a warm welcome to all our guests to an extremely comfortable home and invite you to share in the experience of this lovely place.
All the rooms at Shallowdale House are spacious and luminous, and afford wonderful panoramic views to the south through large picture windows. Paintings and books abound and the interior design contributes a warm and relaxing ambience: the peaceful drawing room on the ground floor and restorative sitting room on the first floor are ideal places to unwind, where complimentary tea and home-made goodies are served between four and five in the afternoons.
