The Old Rectory is a Grade II listed building set in over one acre of landscaped gardens. The Elizabethan house, remodeled in 1850, has been carefully and sympathetically refurbished to welcome guests for the first time.
The house has a special place place in the country's heritage, as the boyhood home of the Second World War hero and fighter ace Group Captain Sir Douglas Bader.
The lounge is the perfect place to relax with its feature fireplace and log fire. In fine weather light refreshments can be enjoyed in the garden and riverside walks are only a five minute stroll away.
The grounds of The Old Rectory are also home to a fine collecton of vintage cars. A collection of pictures in the main entrance hall recall Sir Douglas's association with the house, as do the bullet holes preserved in the dining room window - a memento of early practice shots from an air rifle.
