The Birches Mill nestles in a secluded valley on the banks of the River Unk three miles from the village of Clun and a short drive from historic Ludlow. Surrounded by unspoilt countryside in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the only sounds you can hear are those of the river and the birds singing.
Artists Gill and Andrew have created a relaxed and informal atmosphere and look forward to welcoming you to their sophisticated rural retreat in this lovely lost location.
Built of local stone and timber and clad with ivy, the house dates back to 1640. Inside there are a wealth of oak beams, inglenook fireplaces and flagstone floors offset by antiques and decorated in a cool and collected country style with a reassuring lack of chintz.
Our three individually furnished bedrooms are uncluttered and stylishly cottagey. Feather duvets, crisp white cotton sheets, thick bathrobes and Body Shop toiletries all add to calming and restoring the senses.
Relax and unwind when you arrive with tea and cake on the lawn by the river. The grounds cover three acres of vegetable garden, meadow, cottage garden and river walk.
The spacious sitting room has a traditional Knole sofa and wing chairs to curl up on in front of and open fire.
Breakfast is served in the cosy dining room where guests eat together around one large table. Choose from a wide menu which includes freshly squeezed orange juice, kippers on the bone, eggy toast with maple syrup or the full traditional breakfast with local free range eggs, bacon, sausages and black pudding from our local butchers.
Gill and Andrew are also able to offer self catering accommodation in The Miller's House (sleeps two to four) and Mill Stream Cottage (sleeps two). See the The Birches Mill website for more details.
