NorthCourt is a glorious Jacobean manor surrounded by fifteen acres of beautiful gardens, rising from the stream and walled kitchen gardens to the terraced walks, recognised nationally for their historic importance by English Heritage. It is ideal for those seeking a relaxing break in a heritage building surrounded by unspoilt countryside and beautiful coastline.

 

NorthCourt is situated on the south-west side of the Isle of Wight on the edge of the rural picturesque village of Shorwell. There is a local pub, church and post office all within 3-5 minutes walk.

 

The house nestles just below the Downs, two and a half miles from the sea and beaches, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

We have six ensuite rooms available for bed and breakfast which can either be double or twin. There is also a ground floor bedroom with shower room available for less able visitors.

 

All rooms are large, comfortable and furnished in a traditional way. Each room has its own period character such as panelled walls or a free standing roll top bath. They all have a view over the garden or the paddock.

 

There is a guest’s sitting room with a wood burning stove lit in winter. Guests are encouraged to play the pipe organ, dated 1798, in the hall, or the grand piano in the music room. There is also a full sized snooker table in the library, a table tennis table and a grass tennis court in the summer.

 

Breakfast is served in the dining room which includes homemade bread and home produced honey and jam, home grown fruit from the kitchen garden and a cooked breakfast with locally sourced produce.

 

By car nowhere on the Isle of Wight is more than 35 minutes away. To the north one can visit Carisbrooke Castle at Newport and Osborne House at Cowes. Ventnor Botanic Gardens are to the east and to the west there are Mottistone Manor, Compton Beach, Dimbola photographic museum and the Needles, all within 25 minutes.
