GET YOUR WALKING BOOTS ON AND START TO EXPLORE SOME OF ENGLAND'S BEAUTIFUL COUNTRYSIDE

England has a diverse range of accessible paths across the country.

For fell walking, The Lake District and Peak District are two of the best known areas and both offer challenging walks for the adventurous. For long distances, The Pennine Way (463km) and Coast to Coast Walk (309km) are the best known in England.

Each county has something to offer and our accommodation providers are often in ideal locations for exploring the local countryside on foot.

There are public footpaths and bridleways all over the country. The paths are shown on the Ordnace Survey Explorer (1/25000) and Landranger (1/50000) maps.  Enquire locally for details of the best walks in the area you choose to visit.

England is a great place to go walking, offering an immense variety of landscapes and environments in a relatively small space. Without travelling far you can find rolling green hills, low flat fens, rugged mountains, dramatic chalk ridges, verdant river valleys, tranquil canalsides, parkland vistas, secluded woodlands and a coastline that ranges from vast golden sands to dramatic vertiginous clifftops.  From the Thames Path through the centre of London to the rugged landscape of the Lake District, there is something for everyone, with a good system of public access bringing it within every walker’s reach.

THE LAKE DISTRICT

The Lake District National Park is in the north west of England in the county of Cumbria. It is the largest National Park in the country (occupying 885 sq. miles) and is considered to be England's premier destination for hiking and climbing.  A stunningly beautiful area to explore.
